Long before computer animation and fast-paced cartoons, there was Bod – one of the gentlest and most beloved children’s programmes of the nineteen seventies. Based on the books by Joanne and Michael Cole, this charming BBC series followed the adventures of the curious little boy Bod and his friends, including Aunt Flo, PC Copper, Frank the Postman and Farmer Barleymow. Narrated by the legendary John Le Mesurier and featuring music by Derek Griffiths, the series used simple cut-out animation and memorable tunes to capture the imaginations of young viewers. Every episode also included the magical adventures of Alberto Frog and his Amazing Animal Band, introducing children to classical music in a fun and imaginative way.
