A girl with purple hair, a shaggy dog, and absolutely no talking... what on earth was this show? 👩‍🦰🐕 First airing on BBC One in 1971, this 50‑episode series followed the adventures of Crystal Tipps – a girl with enormous purple frizzy hair and a striped mini‑dress – and her shaggy dog Alistair, who could even ride a bike![reference:0] They were joined by their colourful friends Birdie and Butterfly (sometimes called Robert the Butterfly), bouncing through slapstick dance routines and wonderfully weird scenarios. Note - I couldn't find the Christmas special - googling I found this is kept at the BFI - but doesn't look like its been released - as well as the competition episode/pilot which the show was born from.
