Funnybones | The BBC Skeleton Show That Made Teatime Spooky (In a Good Way!)

Published 13 Aug 2026 View on YouTube β†—
A big skeleton, a little skeleton, a dog skeleton, and a cat who just says "Meow"... sound familiar? πŸ’€πŸ• First airing on BBC One from 29 September to 15 December 1992, this Welsh‑produced series ran for 12 episodes, each just 5 minutes long. Narrated by the brilliant Griff Rhys Jones – who voiced every single character and sang the theme tune as the Moon Man – the show followed the adventures of Big Funnybone (whose catchphrase was "good idea"), Little Funnybone (the brains of the operation), Dog Funnybone (who loved bones and digging holes), and their pet Cat (whose only line was "Meow"). Originally aired in Welsh on S4C before its English BBC debut, the show was a teatime favourite that introduced a generation to the charmingly spooky world of the Ahlbergs. It was even repeated on CBeebies years later!
