Ludwig | The BBC's Surreal Egg-Shaped Gemstone with Beethoven's Greatest Hits

An egg-shaped gemstone, a birdwatcher in a deerstalker, and classical music... sound familiar? 🥚🎵 Created by father-and-son team Mirek and Peter Lang, this cutout animation classic followed the adventures of Ludwig – a magical egg-shaped gemstone who lived in a peaceful forest. Across 25 five-minute episodes, something would happen to the animals of the forest – and Ludwig would come to the rescue. His "body" facets would open up, popping out arms, legs, gadgets, or even a helicopter rotor blade when he needed to get somewhere fast. The show's name came from Ludwig van Beethoven, whose music plays throughout. The opening theme is just 16 seconds long, featuring Beethoven's Symphony No. 5 and No. 1. At the end of every episode, Ludwig plays the final movement of Beethoven's first symphony through the credits.
