Welcome to Rocky Hollow – a secret, magical place hidden deep in the Welsh countryside, where children can watch a delightful community of woodland characters having picnics, exercising, performing magic tricks, and enjoying various activities together. Narrated by the legendary Peter Sallis (the voice of Wallace in Wallace & Gromit and Ratty in The Wind in the Willows), this charming 1983 stop-motion animated series was the very first children's show produced by Bumper Films – the studio that later brought us Fireman Sam, Joshua Jones and Starhill Ponies. Meet the lovable residents of Rocky Hollow: Mr Oak, the wise old man of the hollow who wears a big brown hat; his mischievous nephew Acorn, a young boy who loves skateboarding and playing tricks; Sycamore, a tall, clumsy but friendly young man with a long red scarf; Miss Myrtle, a well-dressed lady who loves organising picnics; Conker, the handyman with a large red nose who fixes clocks and chairs; and Rosie Woodpigeon, the post pigeon who delivers letters all over Rocky Hollow. Originally broadcast in Welsh as Deri Deg on S4C in 1983, followed by an English version on ITV in 1989, The Children's Channel, and later Channel 4. All 26 five-minute episodes were released across three VHS tapes in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
